December ’20 – Freebie Haul

In the run up to Christmas I’ll confess I’ve been dreadful at keeping tabs of the freebies I received this month. As ever I tend to post things soon after they arrive to my Instagram account but I was swamped with Christmas preparation and rounding up the end of the year in December. Below are some of the freebies I managed to claim with where I got them from.

2 x Kind mini snack bars – from a sponsored social media advert

La Espanola mini olive oil – Send Me A Sample

Smashbox Super Fan mascara – sponsored Facebook advert

Kenzo Flower perfume – Boots sampling via their app

Mont Blanc explorer aftershave – Boots sampling via their app

Narcisco Rodriguez Pure Musc perfume – unknown

YSL Black Opium perfume – unknown

Cerave Cream To Foam Hydrating Cleanser deluxe sample – via an online link (no longer available)

Cerave Foaming Cleanser deluxe sample – via an online link (no longer available)

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray x 2 – by asking a counter nicely in Debenhams

Alien body moisturiser and YSL perfume samples – by asking a counter nicely in Debenhams

I gifted so many of my freebies as Christmas presents that I’m exciting to start building up my collection in the New Year!

Beauty & Toiletries I Haven’t Had To Buy This Year Because I Claim Freebies

I’ve previously written several posts with guidelines of how to claim freebies. I’ve obviously always been aware these save me money but didn’t realise quite the extent until I decided to put together this post! Below are all the things I use either very or semi regularly that I haven’t had to buy due to claiming freebies.

Mascara

I love wearing mascara, particularly this year with the introduction of masks meaning my usual go-to foundation and lipstick combination was a sudden write off! I haven’t bought black mascara in about 2 years thanks to claiming freebies. I don’t wear make up on a daily basis so prefer minis as I feel less pressure to use the product in the recommended time frame. I have to say 2020 was my most successful mascara claiming year to date! I managed to claim the following samples:

  • Laura Mercier – via a sponsored Facebook advert
  • Shiseido – via a sponsored Facebook advert (along with a lipstick)
  • Nars Climax x 2 – 1 via Send Me A Sample and another via a sponsored Facebook advert
  • Chanel – via the Debenhams Beauty Club
  • Urban Decay Lash Freak – via a sponsored social media advert. It should have only been available in the US but was leaked to the UK. After contacting them via Facebook I was generously sent a sample.

Lip Products

I don’t tend to buy lip products and generally, like most of my make up, rely on free designer samples. By coincidence I’ve ended up with quite a few red toned lip products this year. Due to mask wearing I haven’t been able to enjoy these anywhere as much as I’d like so these will keep me going for quite some time. I like the swatch samples and have included how to make the most of them in another post. Here are the products I received:

  • Giorgio Armani – red liquid lipstick mini for signing up to a newsletter
  • Shiseido – deluxe lipstick sample – via the above mentioned sponsored Facebook post
  • Nars 12 lipstick swatch sets x 2 – one via Send Me A Sample and the other via a sponsored social media advert
  • Laura Mercier 3 lipstick swatch set – via a sponsored Facebook post
  • Armani red liquid lipstick mini – via signing up to their emails
  • Full size Sport FX lip balms x 2 – from House of Fraser’s new beauty club
  • 2 x Superdrug lip balms – TopCashBack promotion for new customers

Hair Products

For 9 months I didn’t have to buy any shampoo or conditioner via a TopCashBack promotion for new customers which allowed me to get £15 worth of products from Superdrug for free. I managed to pick up one deluxe mini bottle of shampoo from The Body Shop promotions too meaning I haven’t had to spend a penny on shampoo for nearly the entire year. After picking up £23.97 worth of conditioner for £3.60 in the Boots clearance I think it’s safe to say I’ve spent less than £5 all year on hair washing products. I received 3 treatment samples via sponsored social media adverts. All told the things I got free include:

  • 2 x Head and Shoulders shampoo – TopCashBack
  • 2 x L’Oreal Elvive conditioner – TopCashBack
  • 1 x shampoo mini – The Body Shop
  • 1 x Bumble and Bumble hair mask – sponsored ad
  • 1 x Aveda conditioning spray mini – sponsored ad
  • 1 x Aveda leave in conditioning serum mini – sponsored ad
  • 1 x full size Sport FX dry shampoo – House of Fraser beauty club
  • 1 x full size Vo5 Frizz Cream – Shopmium
  • 1 x full size Vo5 Post Gym Refresher spray – Shopmium

Perfume

I honestly lost count of the number of perfume freebies I managed to claim this year. It varied from around 10 to even more than 20 each month in some cases. Most were via sponsored social media adverts.

Hand Cream

Thanks to the incredible TopCashBack haul and a mini claimed from The Body Shop I haven’t bought any hand cream in 2020. I also claimed a generous full size hand sanitiser earlier this year which obviously has been very useful!

Shower Gel

For at least 6 months I didn’t have to buy shower gel and can’t see myself needing to any time soon thanks to bargain and freebie collections.

  • The Body Shop Mango soap – via a birthday promotion
  • The Body Shop shower gel mini – via a birthday promotion
  • Rituals Shower Oil – via a birthday promotion
  • Rituals Shower Foam Mini – for placing a first online order

November ’20 – Freebie Haul

This month has been a very hectic one meaning I’ve been a little slow on the freebie round up! Without further delay here’s a list of the freebies I claimed in November as best I can recall. It was a very successful month for perfume samples which I was particularly pleased with as I like adding them as little extras to Christmas gifts for people.

YSL Black Opium perfume sample – via a sponsored advert with SoPost.

YSL Libre perfume sample

YSL Black Opium, Lancome La Vie Est Belle, Valentino and Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb perfume samples all via SoPost adverts on the John Lewis website.

Urban Decay Lash Freak Mascara. A sponsored Facebook advert floated around that should only have been available in the US. I filled it in without knowing this, contacted them ad they very generously sent me a sample in the post!

Sport FX cosmetics including make up wipes, dry shampoo and 2 full size lip balms. All from joining House of Fraser’s new loyalty club just before lockdown.

Armani Foundation Samples and Deluxe Mini Red Liquid Lipstick from signing up to their website.

YSL Libre, Carolina Herrera Good Girl and Chloe Nomade perfume samples from asking a Debenhams beauty counter nicely back when stores were open.

Cle De Peau Beaute 5ml moisturiser – I believe from a sponsored social media advert.

Dior 3 Fragrance Samples – via the Boots app

Armani My Way Fragrance sample – I assume from a sponsored social media advert.

My Clarins Re-Move Exfoliating Power – from a sponsored Facebook post

October ’20 Freebies

As always at the end of every month I like to post a round up of all the freebies I collected. I have to confess that this month I haven’t been keeping a running tally as items have arrived in the post or as I’ve claimed them so this list may not be a full summary. As always I tend to post items as I get them on my Instagram account.

Via the Shopmium App (cashback received via PayPal after purchase). The referal code “g2ye4k” will earn you a free tube of Pringles when you sign up.

  • BeLeaf Dairy Free yoghurt
  • Peperami Chicken bites
  • McVities VIB biscuits
  • Flipz Dark Chocolate pretzels
  • Vo5 Post Gym Refresher spray
  • Vo5 Frizz Free cream

Elizabeth Arden Hyaluronic Acid Capsules via a sponsored social media advert. This was a really generous sized sample with 7 individual capsules in a large tube.

Paco Rabanne Fragrance x2. One came via a sponsored Facebook advert and another via the Boots app. I’ve written a whole post on all the perks of the Boots app which you can find here.

Valentino, Jo Malone and Carolina Herrera Perfumes via sponsored social media adverts.

Bumble and Bumble hair mask via a sponsored Facebook advert

Livia’s Nugglets. I applied via a social media advert to try these a few months back and realised I never received them. I contacted the brand whose customer service was brilliant and they sent me a small bag of these in the post. I was particularly keen to try them as they’re dairy free and low sugar.

Kiehl’s Moisturiser via a sponsored social media advert. This was a really generous small tub.

Aveda Leave In Hair Conditioner again from a sponsored Facebook advert

Bare Minerals skincare sample sachets via a sponsored social media advert

Laura Mercier Pressed Powder sample again via a Facebook advert

Perfume samples from Lancome, YSL and Armani both via sponsored adverts

Sept ’20 – Freebie Haul

At the end of every month I write up all the freebies I claimed that month as well as where and how I got them. I tend to post them as they arrive over on my Instagram. I’ve written several previous blog posts on how to get beauty freebies, my main tips can be found here.

La Mer The Concentrate 5ml – I got this by following La Mer using my Pinterest account the sponsored advert then popped up in my feed for me to apply to. This was the first freebie I’ve ever found via Pinterest! I tend to find with sponsored adverts it helps if you “like” or “follow” the brands social media accounts, interact with a few posts, then refresh your feed and see if this works. Not all always appear, sometimes visiting the website and allowing cookies can help too.

Allinsons Wholemeal Loaf of Bread – I used Shopmium to get this for free. I bought the exact item listed on the app from the store it specified, uploaded my receipt and scanned the barcode item to be given cashback which arrived in my PayPal 2 days later. The affiliate code g2ye4k will earn you a free tube of Pringles if you download the app and add the referral.

Lego – I was given these at a Lego store as an apology for the waiting times to get in. I honestly waited around 5 mins so was really pleasantly surprised with the free key ring and mini pack of Lego.

McVities V.I.B Biscuits – I used Shopmium to get this for free, I bought the item listed in the app and then requested cashback.

Toffifee – Again a freebie from Shopmium, I sent in a cashback request and received the full amount back via PayPal. I plan to add both the biscuits and these sweets to Christmas hampers as both products have long dates on well into 2021 and I’m currently trying to avoid dairy and excessive sugar.

Nars Climax Mascara x 2 – I filled in a sponsored advert on Facebook to receive this and used Send Me A Sample to receive another. I love mascara freebies, they’re one of my favourites as they save me lots of money. Despite being very frugal I love a good designer mascara so always claim freebies like this whenever I can to save me having to buy one. I’ve now claimed 4 high brand mascaras this year.

Paco Rabanne 1 Million Perfume from a sponsored Facebook advert

Lancome Idole Intense Perfume from a sponsored Facebook advert.

Ted Baker 50ml Body Spray – I paid £1.56 for this but received 200 Boots points worth £2 because I loaded an offer from the Boots app. This will also be put away for Christmas gifts.

Lancome Advanced Genefique 7ml sample + Renergie Multi Lift Ultra – from a sponsored advert found on Pinterest which I believe is still floating about. If you interact with Lancome’s account it should hopefully pop up. I’ll be adding these to a Christmas gift for a relative who loves this brand.

YSL Libre Perfume Sample – again from a sponsored advert

Dior Perfume Samples x 2 – also from a sponsored advert found on Facebook.

Elizabeth Arden Hyaluronic Acid Ceramide Capsules – from a sponsored Facebook post. It’s a really generous sample size with 7 capsules in a bottle.

Freebies With Purchase

Dare Magazine – I paid £3 for this and received beauty freebies worth up to £13.90. Some of these will again be added to Christmas gifts like the Revolution primer which is worth £8. I rarely buy magazines so am pleased to have this one to read as a nice treat and the freebies will help me keep present costs down.

I feel as though I applied for lots of freebies this month but delivery was very slow so I am hoping items turn up next month!
